Garment Mapping

The ‘Mapping’ or ‘Draping’ facility of our Virtual Garment service will be of interest to any company who produce striped garments or garments with printed designs and who wish to save money and use their production facilities and sampling resource more economically.

Our Mapping process enables a print design or a stripe to be ‘absorbed’ into the texture of an image of a plain garment, whilst still retaining the distinctive characteristics, texture and shadowing of the original “Donor” garment.

This process immediately offers cost savings over the traditional method of garment sampling both for one-off garments but also for frequently used body shapes, as once a garment image is ‘mapped’, new stripes & prints can be applied, season after season, year after year.

Benefits

  • Minimise Risk - The level of realism of our Virtual Garments, together with the accuracy of the colours enable Buyers & Selectors to make reliable & confident commercial decisions with high financial implications with a full visualisation of how the garments will look once in store.
  • Our Virtual Garments offer designers the flexibility to visualise their print and stripe designs as ‘real garments’, closer to the deadline but without the cost & extended timescale.
    • Garment manufacturers can reduce cost, as our Virtual Garments are a fraction of the true cost of manufacturing real garments, even more so when that garment is printed or striped.
    • Eliminate the need to source and purchase minimum quantity of yarn in all the required colours in a stripe or to attempt to obtain sufficient sample lengths of printed fabric to make a garment. Eliminate costly disruptions to valuable production resources, such as small load dyeing machines, knitting machines & mechanics and making-up units. These resources can be released for profitable bulk production.

A reduction in the dyeing of garments, sample fabric lengths and the small print runs together with a decrease in transportation cost offer not only a cost effective alternative to producing vast quantities of samples but is also more environmentally-friendly.

Our clients have actually gained lucrative contracts at buying meetings after presenting design concepts using Virtual Garments onto which we have ‘mapped’ print designs.

Once a garment is ‘mapped’ onto a body shape, new stripes & print designs can be applied, season after season, year after year. This process is ideal for many garment types, e.g. the Flat Pack Polo T-Shirt as illustrated at the top of the page.
